The RightsLink platform creates an author-centric workflow for automating the payment and collection of traditional publication charges for any journal—pure OA, hybrid or subscription:
- Hosting supplementary data
- Enrolling in marketing and article promotion services
- Becoming members of a society
Plus, RightsLink facilitates the collection of additional payments for services such as:
- Hosting suplementary data
- Enrolling in marketing and article promotion services
- Becoming members of a society
Standard APIs allow key author, manuscript, publisher, institution and funder metadata to be shared between the publisher's upstream submission and/or production system(s) and RightsLink, enabling the publisher to embed the payment workflow within their own author workflow. This rich metadata is used by RightsLink's sophisticated pricing engine to deliver a completely custom price (including discounts to each and every author, based on the journal's business rules.
Upstream from APCs, the RightsLink platform facilitates the automatic collection of submission charges.
- Help ensure authors who submit are serious about publishing with those journals
- Create an additional revenue stream to pay for peer-review and other publication costs.
- Easily embed a manuscript-specific and author-specific e-commerce link into the submission workflow
Real-time API data and real-time reporting make it easy to track payments and thus trigger next steps in the workflow, such as peer review.
For publishers who offer authors the ability to publish an article figure or image on the cover of the journal issue in which their manuscript is being published, RightsLink can automate this workflow.
RightsLink can house a standard rate card or collect a fee negotiated between the author and the journal editor.
Real-time API data and real-time reporting make it easy to track payments and thus trigger next steps in the workflow, such as production.
Today's "article-based" economy involves more stakeholders than ever before. Publishers, authors, research management offices, libraries within institutions, funders, and vendors are now all part of publishing decisions and payment processes. As a result, publishers need robust, automated solutions to manage this complexity.
RightsLink has API and deep integrations with third-party submission systems including:
- Aries Editorial Manager
- eJournal Press
- Proprietary publisher systems
- Clarivate ScholarOne
- BenchPress
RightsLink provides publishers and their stakeholders with rich transaction tracking and reporting, with over 140 data elements per transaction. These data elements can be mapped directly into compliance reporting, whether an institution uses the JISC, CASRAI or other formats.
